Description:

Lisa and Lottie is a novel written by Erich Kästner and published in 1949. However, the idea of the book was already created at the time of National Socialism. In 1950, the book was first filmed and received the Federal Film Award. In the following decades, there were new film adaptations again and again, which were always well received by the audience. The last film based on Kästner's novel was released in 2017. The book is about two nine-year-old girls, the lively Luise Palfy from Vienna and the polite Lotte Körner from Munich. In a vacation home in Seebühl on Lake Bühl, the two girls meet and they find out that they are twins separated at birth. Thereupon Lisa and Lottie exchange roles, Lisa goes as Lottie to her mother in Munich and Lottie as Lisa to her father in Vienna. The twins' different characters cause confusion among their parents. When their mother, who works at the newspaper, discovers a picture of the girls from the summer camp, she and Lisa travel to Vienna. As a result, the twins' parents find each other again on their birthday, of all days.
