Dungeons & Dragons (D&D or DnD), created by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, is considered the first pen-and-paper role-playing game and was first released in the USA by Tactical Studies Rules in 1974. Today, it is produced and distributed by Wizards of the Coast. The first German version was published in 1983, and since 2021, Wizards of the Coast has been directly handling the distribution in Germany, with plans to translate many previously English-only products into German.
