In 1975, Steven Spielberg directed the thriller "Jaws", which is considered one of the most famous blockbusters in film history and caused a real boom in animal horror films and is still the reason for numerous shark film productions today. When a completely mangled corpse washes up on the coast of Amity, police chief Brody expects a shark attack and demands that the city council close the beaches. But the city council refuses and many more deaths from a shark attack follow. Mayor Vaughn reacts much too late and commissions shark catcher Quint together with Brody and marine biologist Matt Hooper to wipe out the beast.
