Description:
BRIO®’s history began in 1884 with basket-maker Ivar Bengtsson. In 1908 he officially transferred the company to his three sons, Victor, Anton and Emil, and in the following year they registered the new company as Brröderna Ivarsson Osby, (the Brothers Ivarsson Osby).
The company developed strongly under the sons' management: BRIO® expanded rapidly and soon became one of the most productive toy manufacturing and distributing companies in Scandinavia. They supplied high-quality wooden toys, traditionally hand-made in South Sweden.
The BRIO® trademark as it looks today first appeared 1930 on two wooden toy trucks, sold at a price of Swedish crowns. Today BRIO® produces more than 4 million wooden toys a year and belongs to world’s leading wooden toy manufacturers.
BRIO® has sales departments in Sweden, Danmark, Norway, Finland, Germany, France, the UK, Poland, Japan, Canada and the United States. Anywhere on Earth, BRIO® toys stand for quality, safety and durability. What is more, they are also a joy to play with.
The German subsidiary was founded in 1974. Since then, Brio Germany has threetimes been awarded the title “Retail Partner of the Year” by German Toy Retailers and many BRIO® products are allowed to bear the coveted German “spiel gut” seal.
By the way, the creation of the first world-famous BRIO® wooden railway system dates as far back as the late 1950s!
